Google puts Gemini chat exports somewhere easy to miss. The conversations are inside My Activity → Gemini Apps, not the Takeout products called Gemini or Gemini in Workspace.

Read this first

Do not select “Gemini” expecting conversations. Google says that item contains Gems data such as names and instructions. Chat history belongs to Gemini Apps activity inside My Activity.

01 / Get the right ZIP

Export only your Gemini Apps activity.

The labels can look similar. Follow the path exactly and confirm the nested Gemini Apps checkbox before creating the archive.

    Start clean

    Open Takeout and choose Deselect all.

    Sign in with the same personal Google Account you use for Gemini. Deselecting everything prevents unrelated Google data from entering the archive.

    The hidden parent

    Search for My Activity, not Gemini.

    Tick My Activity, then select All activity data included beneath it.

    The important checkbox

    Deselect all activity, then select Gemini Apps.

    Inside the pop-up, choose Deselect all, tick Gemini Apps, and select OK. This is the selection Google documents for chats, generated media and uploads.

    Archive settings

    Choose Export once and ZIP.

    Select Next step. A download link by email, one-time export and ZIP file are the simplest options for a future IndividuateAI import.

    Keep it sealed

    Download the archive to a private device.

    Google says Gemini Apps archives can take from a few hours to several days to prepare. Keep the ZIP unopened and do not email it: the archive can contain deeply personal text and attachments.

02 / If Gemini Apps is missing

Check the account before blaming the export.

Correct account
Use the same Google Account that contains the Gemini conversations.
Activity exists
Open Gemini Apps Activity and confirm the conversations appear there.
Keep Activity
Chats created while Keep Activity was off may not appear in exportable activity.
Managed account
Work and school administrators can control whether Gemini Apps activity is available.

03 / The IndividuateAI process

An import should be a review, not a memory dump.

The authenticated importer is in development. This is the process it is being designed to follow.

Choose the original Takeout ZIP. The archive is validated before any content is accepted.

See conversation counts, dates, attachments, duplicates and anything that cannot be imported.

Choose

Archive, use as selectable context, suggest memories, or skip each conversation.

Approve

Review proposed memories and map connections before they enter persistent memory.

Prepare the archive

Export now. Decide what follows you later.

The ZIP is a copy. Exporting it does not delete your activity from Google.
